Carrie Bailey, Admissions Director
Carrie Breyare Bailey has been employed with Gaston Christian School for 6 years. She has served as After School Care worker, After School Care Director, Office support, and Financial Secretary.
She has been married to Darrell Bailey for 19 years. They have 2 daughters, Chelsea a 10th grader at Gaston Christian, and Cassidy, a 7th grader at Gaston Christian School. Both girls have been in our program since 4-year-old preschool.
Carrie has a degree in Marketing and Business and serves in her home church of Grace Baptist Church, Mount Holly, NC as Evangelism Director, Girls in Action Leader, and Sunday School worker.
Tom Hawxwell, Athletic Director
Mr. Tom Hawxwell came to Gaston Christian School in 2004. Over the past year, his responsibilities have included teaching P.E., Summer Camp Director, and developing the Jr. Eagles Program, which is a youth sports league. He received his B.S. from Liberty University in Sports Management. After completing his degree, he went on to be a Sports Coordinator at the West Orange YMCA in Orlando, Florida. More recently, he served for four years as a Camp Director in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
He and his wife Amy, who also teaches at Gaston Christian School, have two sons, Dakota and Colin.
Adam Mehaffey, High School Dean of Students
Adam Mehaffey began teaching at GCS in January of 2005. He received his bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University and his master’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Adam has taught history and science in the middle school and has also coached the middle school boys’ basketball team. He currently teaches U.S. history and American Government.
Adam enjoys sports, reading, and traveling with his wife Heather. He and Heather have been married for a year and a half and have a son, Benjamin.
Nancy Roach, Business Manager
Nancy Roach has served as Business Manager since 1997. She graduated from Isothermal College magna cum laude with an associate’s degree and is certified in Rehabilitation Administration by Auburn University. She has served in a similar capacity with private non-profit organizations for more than twenty-five years.
Her husband, Doug, is regional sales and service representative for Vertex Fasteners. They have four children: Bethany, a GCS graduate who is currently Activities Director for Bonclarken Conference Center in Hendersonville, NC; Philip, also a GCS graduate, currently serving in the US Army Reserve in Hendersonville, NC; Susannah, a GCS graduate and freshman at Montreat College; and Sam, a ninth grader at GCS.
She leads the Child Evangelism Fellowship ministry of her church and assists in the operation of a wholesale perennial nursery at her home.
