Elementary Library

Elementary library is a fun time for students to listen to stories, check out books, learn research skills, and work on Reading Counts.  Reading Counts has been a great addition, allowing students to choose books that are on their reading level and then take comprehension quizzes.  This has proven to be a great tool in strengthening student reading.

Each grade level has the opportunity to come to the library each week to search for books, listen to stories, take Reading Count quizzes, and check out books to take home.

Our Librarian, Mrs. Amy Hawxwell, is waiting to help you find something fun to read!

The Elementary Library hosts a book fair that allows parents and teachers to purchase new books for their students.

HIGH SCHOOL/MIDDLE SCHOOL MEDIA CENTER

GCS MEDIA CENTER MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Gaston Christian Media Center is to provide students and

faculty with the best information resources possible and to honor

Jesus Christ by serving the school community with excellence.

The William and Dorothy Hager and Family Media Center serves as a vibrant focal point of the school. The spacious, inviting area provides adequate seating and generous lighting, as well as a variety of work stations that appeal to different learning styles and research needs.  Our Middle/High School librarian,  Mrs. Debra Barton, is always available to help students with any media needs.

Information access and curriculum support are primary goals in serving faculty and students in grades six through twelve. The media program provides personal assistance, tools, and resources to guide students in finding and using library resources. Patrons initiate learning as they seek information and sharpen research skills.  Flexible scheduling allows ample accessibility throughout the school day.

Serving the middle school and the high school, the media center is a gateway to age appropriate print, multi-media, and online information.  The media center provides a comfortable atmosphere for serious study, research, pleasure reading, and nurturing friendships.
