GCS participated in the national Souper Bowl of Caring food drive the week of January 30-February 3. The Souper Bowl was started by a youth group to bring awareness to the millions of people watching the Super Bowl that there are still millions who are without food in our country. We at GCS donate all of our collections to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Second Harvest estimates that of the 19 counties they serve, including Gaston, 18.3% of the population lives in poverty. The school collectively brought in 3,623 food items which will provide so many meals to our neighbors in need! A special thank you goes to the members of the middle school Jr. Beta Club who were champions in heading up this event!
